Mouflon hunting: a Mediterranean challenge

Low Mediterranean vegetation, steep rocky terrain and the mouflon’s exceptional eyesight combine to create a demanding, technical hunt that rewards preparation, fitness and precision. We work with hunting grounds along the coast from Istria to Pelješac.

In Mediterranean habitat, where the scrub grows low and visibility is wide, mouflon rely on excellent eyesight rather than cover. Hunters typically cover significant distances on foot over rocky, uneven ground, locating and judging animals at 150 to 250 metres, then attempting a precise long-range shot. Here the guide combines the roles of tracker, spotter and terrain expert.

Our guests consistently describe mouflon hunting on the Adriatic as one of the most memorable experiences of their hunting career, partly for the landscape, partly for the genuine physical challenge, and partly because the hunt demands real skill from the shooter.

Mouflon hunting is available for most of the year. Populations in our partner hunting grounds ensure daily hunting opportunities, and the overall success rate is around 90 %. Medal rams are taken regularly, and although the trophy range can be somewhat more uniform than in continental areas, fully mature rams with excellent curl and width are consistently available.

Because all our mouflon hunting grounds lie on or near the Adriatic riviera, guests can easily combine the hunt with a stay by the sea. Hotels, private villas and boutique guesthouses of every category are only minutes from the hunting grounds. Hunters often bring the family, with non-hunting companions enjoying the coast while the hunt takes place in the morning.

After the hunt the day typically ends with fresh fish and local wine, a contrast to the mountain pines and oak forests that characterise the hunting grounds further inland.
